Thiago Silva set to join Fluminense in May

Thiago Silva is set to join Brazilian club Fluminense after Chelsea’s final Premier League match of the season on May 19.

Chelsea has permitted Silva, 39, to join his new teammates ahead of his official registration transfer on July 1.

The Brazilian center-back has agreed to a two-year contract with Fluminense.

Silva came to Chelsea on a free transfer from Paris St-Germain in 2020 and has since made 152 appearances for the Blues.

During his time at Chelsea, Silva secured three trophies, including the 2020-21 Champions League.

In April, when announcing his departure from Stamford Bridge this summer, he expressed his profound affection for the club, describing it as “indescribable.”

Chelsea, currently seventh in the league under Mauricio Pochettino, is aiming to secure a European spot as they prepare to face Bournemouth in their season finale, with three league games left to play.
