Microblogging platform Twitter on Wednesday introduced a GOAT emoji to honoured some Nigerian celebrities and others
The celebrities are Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, Ex-Bbnaija winner Laycon and Ex-Bbnaija housemate Maria.
The goat symbol appears when these celebrities are trending on Twitter or when their names are searched with an hashtag symbol.
G.O.A.T is an acronym for “Greatest Of All Time,” which is commonly used in sports when referring to players who are widely considered the most talented.
Twitter also honoured other global celebrities like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo with the emoji.
But the development has generated controversies as Wizkid fans accused Davido of paying Twitter to get the emoji, owing to the fact that wizkid was the first Nigerian celebrity to be so honoured.
Some other fans said Twitter was biased to have limited the honour to just a few celebrities.
