UEFA has fined both the Football Association (FA) and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) after national anthems were booed ahead of the Republic of Ireland’s Nations League match against England in September.
The FA received a £10,500 (12,500 euros) fine due to England fans booing Amhran na bhFiann at Aviva Stadium, with the penalty being higher as it was considered a repeat offense.
The FAI was fined £8,400 (10,000 euros) after home supporters booed God Save The King. UEFA imposed additional fines on the FAI: £7,800 (9,250 euros) for lighting flares and £5,000 (6,000 euros) for a pitch invasion by a spectator.
The FA was also fined £4,150 (5,000 euros) for a supporter entering the field of play.
England won the September 7 match 2-0, with goals from Jack Grealish and Declan Rice.
