The 2022 edition of the Nigerian University Games Association(NUGA) has ended at the University of Lagos, with University of Port Harcourt emerging the champions.
UNIPORT, the defending champions scooped 61 gold, 29 silver and 30 bronze medals. They won the last edition in 2017.
Hosts UNILAG came a distant second with 33 gold, 34 silver and 19 bronze medals.
Nile University in Abuja picked the third slot with 15 gold, 10 silver and 19 bronze medals.
Team Uniport dominated the swimming event, where they won 20 gold, eight silver and eight bronze medals.
The Team Uniport were also dominant in Tennis, athletics and combat sports such as Judo Karate Taekwondo.
The 2022 NUGA games featured 73 universities across Nigeria. The contingent of 10,000 athletes participated in 17 sporting activities.
UNIJOS will host the next edition inn 2024.
