Uzoho not set as Nigeria’s number one – Rohr

Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr insists that Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Francis Uzoho is not guaranteed to be the Super Eagles’ first choice for the 2018 World Cup.

The German tactician insists that he will not be recalling veteran Vincent Enyeama, meaning the number one jersey is waiting to be claimed by one of Uzoho, Daniel Akpeyi, Dele Alampasu, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Dele Ajiboye, reports africanfootball.com.

Rohr will send goalkeeper trainer Pionetti Enrico to South Africa to assist Chippa United’s Akpeyi, while the locally-based goalkeepers will have their skills sharpened by former Super Eagles goalkeeper Alloy Agu.

“Uzoho is working hard, but he is only third choice keeper at La Coruna, and very young. Let’s work on all our goalkeepers,” Rohr said on radio programme Mega Sports, as quoted by Allnigeriasoccer.

“We will give the same attention to Alampasu, Agu will work on the local lads as well.

“We will work equally with all the goalkeepers we have available, even with Akpeyi in South Africa.”
