Leicester City staged a remarkable late comeback to secure a thrilling draw against Brighton, preserving new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy’s unbeaten start.
Trailing by two goals in the second half, Leicester captain Jamie Vardy sparked the revival with a clinical finish in the 86th minute, marking his sixth goal of the season.
The drama escalated in stoppage time as substitute Bobby De Cordova-Reid scored his first goal of the campaign, capitalizing on a brilliant assist from Vardy.
The late equalizer stunned Brighton, who had appeared in control following goals from Tariq Lamptey and Yankuba Minteh.
Brighton looked poised to climb to fifth place after Lamptey curled a spectacular strike into the top corner in the 37th minute.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 79th minute when Minteh delivered a dazzling solo effort, finishing powerfully with his left foot.
However, the King Power Stadium roared to life in a dramatic finale. Vardy, who has now recorded two goals and two assists in his last three Premier League appearances, was at the heart of Leicester’s resurgence.
After being a persistent threat to Brighton’s defense throughout the match, Vardy found the net by latching onto a deflected cross from James Justin and slotting past goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.
Moments later, Vardy turned provider, setting up De Cordova-Reid for a simple tap-in, completing the comeback and lifting Leicester five points clear of the relegation zone.
The thrilling performance underlined Vardy’s enduring influence and Leicester’s fighting spirit.
