Chelsea lost their third Premier League match in a row on Sunday, falling 1-0 to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. Ollie Watkins’ goal in the 73rd minute gave Villa the victory.

The winger engaged Colwill in a sprint. While the defender initially blocked the shot, Watkins seized the opportunity, slotting the ball into the left post.

Earlier, ex-Barcelona left-back Lucas Digne nearly outplayed Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Sanchez, with a powerful shot, only for the keeper to tip it over the bar.

Chelsea‘s striker, Jackson, had a promising opportunity at goal, but his feeble left-footed strike was parried by Martinez.

Sanchez was once again summoned into action in the 39th minute, this time making a crucial save to tip Nicolo Zaniolo’s volley over the bar.

Just before halftime, Chelsea’s Alex Disasi managed to head the ball into the net, but it was ultimately disallowed for offside.

Two minutes into the second half, Raheem Sterling found himself in a promising position thanks to a sublime pass from Thiago Silva.

However, the Englishman couldn’t capitalize on his opportunity as Martinez came to the visitors’ rescue.

Chelsea’s struggles continued in the second half of their match against Aston Villa, as they were reduced to 10 men after French right-back Malo Gusto received a second yellow card for a late challenge on Digne.

The Blues continue to find form in the new season, with just five points from their opening six matches, after drawing 1-1 with Bournemouth and losing to Nottingham Forest on home soil.
