Vinicius Jr’s prolonged injury causes setbacks for Real Madrid

Real Madrid persists in dealing with an enduring surge of injuries since the beginning of the season.

The La Liga giants have faced a multitude of injuries during the initial three months of the season, leading to a united appeal for relief from the series of unfortunate setbacks affecting the Spanish powerhouse.

Following anterior cruciate ligament injuries to Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, Carlo Ancelotti’s squad faced additional setbacks as Arda Guler, Ferland Mendy, Aurelien Tchoumeni, Eduardo Camavinga, and most recently, Vinicius Jr succumbed to injuries.

While the severity and expected recovery times for each player’s injury have been disclosed, news of Vinicius Jr’s injury has particularly disheartened many Real Madrid fans. According to ESPN, the Brazilian forward has been diagnosed with a femoral biceps rupture with involvement of the distal tendon in his left leg.

This injury, appearing to be a recurrence of a previous setback, has deepened the disappointment among fans, especially in light of the announcement of his extended period on the sidelines.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 23-year-old forward is anticipated to remain sidelined until at least mid-February 2024. This confirmation has prompted a wave of somber reactions from fans on social media, considering the significant number of crucial games that Vinicius Jr is poised to miss.

As reported by Spanish outlet COPE journalist Miguel Angel Diaz, Vinicius Jr. is expected to make his comeback during the Spanish Super Cup clash against Atletico Madrid.

However, in the meantime, the forward is set to be absent for a minimum of 13 games, including matchups against Cadiz, Napoli, Granada, Betis, Union Berlin, Villarreal, Alaves, Mallorca, and Atletico in the Super Cup.

Furthermore, he is likely to miss any potential Super Cup final, as well as fixtures against Getafe, Almeria, and Las Palmas.
