Debutants Malawi delivered the biggest upset of this year’s Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON), defeating defending champions Nigeria’s Super Falcons in their Group C opening fixture on Tuesday.
Sisters Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga combined for all three of Malawi’s goals, while Rasheedat Ajibade and Uchenna Kanu found the net for the Super Falcons — but it was not enough to prevent a stunning defeat for the title holders.
