Victor Osimhen has expressed confidence that Galatasaray are determined to achieve big things in the UEFA Champions League this season.

The Turkish champions returned to the prestigious competition after a one-year absence.

Okan Buruk’s team began their campaign with a 4-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, but they quickly regained form with home victories over Liverpool and Bodo/Glimt.

Osimhen has been instrumental in their resurgence, scoring three goals across the two matches.

Galatasaray are set to face Ajax away from home on Wednesday as they continue their push for qualification.

Speaking with UEFA.com, the Nigerian striker said the club’s ambition is to leave a lasting impression on the European stage.

“I spoke with the president when I arrived here and we want to really make a statement in the Champions League,” Osimhen told UEFA.com.

“We want to show that, in Turkey, we are the team that the whole world will know this year because we actually did something amazing in Europe.

“We’ve dominated the league for years. We will keep on dominating it, but now it’s time to make a statement in the most prestigious games, Champions League games, because it’s beautiful when you play in the Champions League. So, for us, we want to make a statement.”
