David Moyes reveals he has received a new contract offer to remain as the manager of West Ham, yet he intends to defer his decision on his future until the conclusion of the season.
The Hammers’ current eight-match winless run has seen Moyes come under pressure from some supporters.
“I’ve had really good conversations with the owners, with David Sullivan and Karren Brady,” he said.
“There’s a contract there for me and I’m the one deciding I want to wait until the end of the season.”
In the away section during the previous weekend, a “Moyes Out” banner was displayed as West Ham suffered a 2-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest, following a 6-0 loss at home to Arsenal the week prior.
Last season, West Ham secured the Europa Conference League, marking their first significant trophy in 43 years. Additionally, under Moyes’ leadership, they achieved sixth and seventh place finishes in the Premier League and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League in 2022.
Despite these achievements, the Hammers, currently positioned ninth in the league, have not secured a victory since defeating title contenders Arsenal in December.
Moyes initially managed West Ham from November 2017 to May 2018 before returning to the club in December 2019.
“There are plenty of reasons [to wait]. I’ve got to make sure it’s the right thing for the club, for me and my family,” said the 60-year-old.
“I’ve spoken to the board. I’ve had a fabulous four years. We’ll sort it out but I’m happy to wait.”
Scheduled to face German club Freiburg in the Europa League’s round of 16, the Hammers will strive to halt their streak without a victory as they welcome Brentford on Monday (20:00 GMT).
Moyes’ squad may receive a boost with the potential return of Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta, who has resumed training following a knee injury and is “in contention” to participate against the Bees.
