West Ham United have acquired defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United for £15 million. The 26-year-old has signed a seven-year contract with the Hammers.
Wan-Bissaka, who joined Manchester United from Crystal Palace in a £50 million transfer in 2019, scored two goals in 190 appearances for the Red Devils.
He is West Ham’s eighth signing of the summer, joining new arrivals Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Füllkrug, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, and Guido Rodríguez at the London Stadium.
“It was a no brainer for me to join West Ham – I’m excited and happy to be here,” said Wan-Bissaka.
“I can’t wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there.
“I see a team that is in it together, that will push each other to win, and a group that has got each others’ backs through thick and thin, so being part of that and having that insurance helps a lot when you are surrounded by a good squad.”

Wan-Bissaka, a London native, expressed his excitement about returning to the capital, calling it an “amazing feeling.”
Signed by Ole Gunnar Solskjær in 2019 during his tenure as Manchester United manager, Wan-Bissaka was a first-choice defender until Solskjær’s departure in 2021. He lost his regular starting spot following Erik ten Hag’s appointment in 2022 but still made 64 appearances under the Dutchman over the past two seasons.
Manchester United’s pursuit of Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui hinged on Wan-Bissaka’s transfer to West Ham, and the Red Devils now anticipate finalizing Mazraoui’s signing.
West Ham will kick off their 2024-25 Premier League season against Aston Villa on August 17, while Manchester United will face Fulham at home on August 16.
