Vitor Pereira has agreed to an 18-month contract to become Wolves’ new manager.

The Premier League side is paying around 1 million euros to bring Pereira, the current head coach of Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab, to the Midlands.

The Portuguese manager, who has previously managed Porto and Olympiakos, was scheduled to travel to England on Tuesday. Although the contract has not been signed yet, no issues are expected after smooth negotiations.

The 56-year-old’s first match will be against Leicester on Sunday, with Wolves currently second-bottom, five points behind the 17th-placed Foxes.

Wolves have lost 11 of their 16 Premier League matches and dismissed their previous manager, Gary O’Neil, on Sunday after a 2-1 defeat to relegation rivals Ipswich.

They had also considered other potential candidates, including former West Ham, Everton, and Manchester United manager David Moyes.

Pereira joined Al-Shabab in February, leading the team to an eighth-place finish in the Saudi Pro League last season. They are currently in sixth place, with seven wins from 13 games.

Pereira won two Primeira Liga titles with Porto in 2011-12 and 2012-13, as well as the Greek Super League with Olympiakos in 2014-15.

Wolves may be without Matheus Cunha for the trip to Leicester’s King Power Stadium after the forward was charged with misconduct by the Football Association for an altercation with an Ipswich security staff member following their league game on Saturday.
