Wolves have completed the acquisition of Brazilian midfielder Andre from Fluminense in a deal potentially worth up to £21 million.
Andre, who won the Copa Libertadores with Fluminense in 2023 and has earned five international caps, joins Molineux for an initial £18.5 million, with up to £2.5 million in potential add-ons.
The 23-year-old had previously been set for a move to Fulham earlier in the window but expressed a preference for a Premier League transfer.
Speaking about their latest recruit, the club’s sporting director Matt Hobbs said: “It’s one that I thought we were going to miss out on, so I’m unbelievably excited to have him come and join us.
“He’s physically good and we think he’ll thrive in the Premier League. It’s a player that we’re picking on the way up – he’s not coming to us having won his trophies on the way down.”
The West Midlands club also added England goalkeeper Sam Johnstone to their ranks for £10 million from Crystal Palace and secured Ajax winger Carlos Forbs on loan.
Forbs, 20, joined Ajax from Manchester City in 2023 without making a senior appearance for Pep Guardiola’s team. The Portugal U21 international featured 37 times last season, scoring three goals, and has played in six matches for Ajax this season.
With Andre’s arrival, Wolves have now signed eight players this summer. The new additions include England Under-21 midfielder Tommy Doyle, Portuguese winger Rodrigo Gomes, Brazilian defender Pedro Lima, French youth international defender Bastien Meupiyou, and Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, who is on loan from Celta Vigo, all joining Gary O’Neil’s squad.
Meanwhile, Fabio Silva has been loaned to La Liga side Las Palmas for the season. Silva, who was signed from Porto for a record £35.6 million in 2020, leaves after a significant stint at Wolves.
