Matheus Cunha has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following Wolves’ 2-1 defeat to Ipswich on Saturday.
The Brazil striker, who scored Wolves’ equalizer at Molineux, “allegedly behaved in an improper manner” during a confrontation between the two teams at the final whistle.
Post-match footage appeared to show Cunha elbowing a member of Ipswich’s security team in the back of the head before removing the man’s glasses.
The 25-year-old has until December 19 to respond to the charge.
Following the loss, which marked Wolves’ 11th defeat in the Premier League this season, the club dismissed manager Gary O’Neil and his backroom staff.
Cunha has scored eight goals in 16 top-flight appearances this season but may face a suspension for his involvement in the incident.
Ipswich’s Jack Taylor scored a last-minute header to secure the win, and at full-time, Cunha’s teammate Rayan Ait-Nouri was sent off in the tunnel for a second yellow card.
Wolves currently sit 19th in the Premier League, five points behind 17th-placed Leicester City, whom they will face on Sunday at 14:00 GMT.
