FIFA has named Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić as the official for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
The appointment was confirmed by the global football governing body through its official X account on Friday.
The highly anticipated final is scheduled to be played on Sunday.
Vinčić will work alongside fellow Slovenians Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič, who have been assigned as the first and second assistant referees.
Jordanian official Adham Makhadmeh will take up the role of fourth official, while Mohammad Alkalaf has been selected as the reserve assistant referee.
The championship match will be staged at the 80,663-seat New York New Jersey Stadium in the United States, with kick-off set for 3:00 p.m. local time (EDT).
Spain secured their place in the final by defeating France in the semi-finals.
Defending champions Argentina, captained by Lionel Messi, advanced to the final after eliminating Egypt, Switzerland and England in the knockout rounds.
The showdown will be the 104th and final game of the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup, with the victorious side lifting the trophy as world champions.
Argentina are aiming to successfully defend the title they claimed in Qatar in 2022, while Spain hope to capture their second FIFA World Cup title after their historic 2010 success.
