Actress Wumi Toriola pens emotional statement ahead of her cinema debut

Nollywood actress and producer Wumi Toriola has extended appreciation to fans and supporters as she prepares for her first cinema debut.

The film actress, who has a reputation for shattering YouTube records, is about to take a significant step forward in her career when Queen Lateefah hits theatres on September 27, 2024.

Toriola’s new film will be her first significant effort to be shown in a theatre, joining the ranks of industry heavyweights like Femi Adebayo, Lateef Adedimeji, Odunlade Adekola, and Eniola Ajao with this film. Wumi wrote a heartfelt letter to her followers, reflecting on her journey from being on DVD, YouTube, and satellite TV to now going into theatres.

“I have explored and am still exploring your screens,” she shared, noting that the next step in her career came in January 2024 when she partnered with Cinema Xng to produce her first cinema film, Queen Lateefah. Directed by Captain Degzy, the movie is expected to be a blockbuster.

Toriola expressed deep appreciation for her fans’ strong support throughout her career. She credited their love and loyalty as a driving force behind her continued success, saying, “You all have never failed me. Your love has been a source of motivation.”
