The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has designated Thursday, April 11 as a ‘No Shoot Day’ for all Nollywood filmmakers in memory of actor Junior Pope and three other crew members who perished in a boat tragedy on the Anam River in Anambra State on Wednesday.
According to Emeka Rollas, National President of AGN, this occurred on the set of Adamma Luke’s film ‘The Other Side of Life’.
“Following the tragic incident of a boat mishap that claimed the life of Junior Pope and three other crew members on the waterside of the River Niger Cable Point Asaba on April 10th, all films involving riverine areas and boat riding are hereby suspended indefinitely.”
“There will be no shooting in any places nationally on Thursday, April 11, 2024, and the film ‘The Other Side of Life’ has been suspended indefinitely.
“No actors are permitted to work with Adamma Luke as producers until further notice, as we continue to search for the bodies of the remaining individuals.” “May their souls find peace,” he remarked.
The late actor and three of his colleagues were returning from a film location in a boat when they plunged into the Anam River in Anambra State on Wednesday.
Rollas verified Junior Pope’s death after stating on Wednesday that he had survived the tragedy.
He stated that when minor twitches of Junior Pope’s fingers were seen, it was initially assumed that he had survived the collision.
Mr Rollas rushed to Instagram on Thursday to reveal the unfortunate discovery, writing, “It is so so sad that our joy was short lived.”
He added: “My first post was out of excitement when we noticed his tingling fingers. Two notable hospitals tried their best to revive him but to no avail.
“God knows best.” Mr. Friday’s body was identified, but three other bodies are still missing.
