Anikulapo, Mami Wata top AMAA 2023 winners [Full list of winners]

Kunle Afolayan’s grand cinematic piece, ‘Anikulapo,’ and C.J. Obasi’s ‘Mami Wata,’ secured victories at the 19th Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) held on Sunday, October 29.

The awards event, celebrating the outstanding achievements in African cinema by uniting filmmakers from across the globe, was emceed by Nancy Isime, Rahama Sadau, and Richard Ato Turkson.

‘Anikulapo’ was honored with the Ousmane Sembene Award for Best Film in an African Language, and ‘Mami Wata’ received the Campell Precious Arebamen Prize for Best Achievement in Make-Up.
