Bobrisky seeks open investigation on bribery allegations

The social media sensation Bobrisky says she is ready for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to look into the claims of bribery made against her.

The transvestite, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, was given a six-month prison sentence on April 12 for misusing naira. She was freed from jail on August 5.

Her experience began on Tuesday when Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, posted an alleged audio clip online in which she claimed to have paid N15,000,000 to some EFCC officials in order to have the accusations against her dropped.

Later, the self-described transgender person called the widely shared audio clip “phoney.” She maintained that she gave the anti-graft organisation no money at all.

The cross-dresser also stated, “I served my term in prison.”

After the anti-graft agency invited Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan due to bribery charges against its officials, Bobrisky issued a denial.

The head of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, also issued an order to look into the claims right now.

Similarly, in a warning letter to VeryDarkMan, rapper Falz seemed to have verified some of the activist’s assertions.

Falz said the crossdresser called him to ask for financial assistance of “N3 million to pay some officials to get a VIP prison section”; he declined, according to the letter ordering the activist to withdraw his claims.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Bobrisky revealed that she had received numerous threats regarding the recording.

The crossdresser insisted that the audio recording was “fake” and “manipulated”. She also expressed concerns about potential detention by the anti-graft agency.

Bobrisky emphasized her innocence while asserting her willingness to face legal action.

The social media celebrity said she is “ready for any investigation, but it must not be conducted in the same EFCC office where I was previously detained”.

“Please everyone calling to tell me the danger I am in and the plans against me should hold it now and fu*k it,” she wrote.

“I don’t want any threat no more. I was being scared because of the story that EFCC will detain me again and I will be sentenced to prison second time. God will vindicate me and for those that want to frame me up, they will be exposed by the law.

“I am ready for any investigation but not in the same EFCC office where I was detained and any investigation should be free, no intimidation and I demand for an independent and open investigation for the world to see.

“You cannot bury me because of my social media lifestyle. Anybody can alter any audio, add or frame any audio and put it out. Anyone who published any audio should take responsibility for the audio.

“The fact remains that I am not the maker of that audio and didn’t publish any audio, and nothing can change that. I will meet you guys in any court this time around if you have any case against me.”
