Renowned Actor and Lecturer, Kola Oyewo, Shares Heartfelt Struggle Against Prostate Cancer in a Candid Revelation That Resonates with Many.

Oyewo revealed the information when actor Kunle Afod visited his home in Osun State.

In 2019, Oyewo shared the onset of his health challenge, describing the distressing symptom of difficulty urinating that prompted him to seek medical help.

After undergoing a battery of thorough tests, he received the disquieting diagnosis of an enlarged prostate, marking the commencement of his enduring struggle with the ailment.

For over two years, Oyewo relied on the expertise of his medical team, who fought vigorously to preserve his life.

He recalled that at least six of his friends had died of similar ailments.

The accomplished actor, celebrated for his outstanding stage and screen portrayals, courageously revealed the emotional impact of receiving such solemn news. This was especially poignant as his wife was concurrently facing her own health struggles, combating a stroke since 2017.

According to him, “as of the time I received the news of my health condition, my wife was down with a stroke.

Since 2017, she had been dealing with it, but I had to inform her about my condition. Tears flowed that day as I bid her farewell to embark on our journey.

Unfazed by the challenging path ahead, Oyewo underwent a sequence of surgeries designed to address and manage his condition.

The initial procedure focused on creating an artificial passage for urine, a pivotal step in his journey of treatment.

Even after being informed about an upcoming surgery that would prevent him from participating in sexual activities, Oyewo stayed determined, placing his health as the top priority.

In his own words, he expressed, “I didn’t care about having sex anymore; all I cared about was getting better. I have children, and I am already an old man. Why should I be bothered about sex at this age? I just want to get better and be fine.”

Oyewo mentioned that he went through the surgeries and is currently recovering, having come to terms with the fact that he will now pass urine through artificial means.

The journey to recovery has been challenging, marked by numerous uncertainties and hardships.

However, amidst the trials, Oyewo maintained an unwavering sense of gratitude for the gift of life.

Reflecting on the challenges he has overcome, he says, “I told those close to me not to mention my situation to the public or ask people to donate funds for me because I can take care of myself and my children are also capable of taking care of me.”

While maneuvering through the intricacies of his health journey, Oyewo mentioned that he has resumed visiting various places and intends to continue doing so until it is time as determined by God.
