Nigerian actress Beverly Naya has talked about an experience that almost caused her to give up acting.
The actress revealed that she nearly gave up on her career due to a blog post that undermined her self-worth.
The 34-year-old disclosed in an honest interview with Chude Jideonwo that she became unhappy after reading a certain blog post that read, “Nollywood, Can We Please Stop Making Beverly Naya Happen!”
She said, “It really got to me and it damaged my self esteem and it made me doubt myself like I really don’t feel like I want to continue in this industry, I wanted to quit on several occasions.”
She went on to say that the blog was no longer active and that she had recently received an international award.
Recall that actress Beverly Naya shared tips on how to tell if a man is infatuated with his spouse.
The dark-skinned actress declared that she would make men—especially Nigerian men—more emotionally susceptible if she could change anything about them.
Beverly Naya expressed her desire for men to have the same emotional intelligence as women. pointing out that males in Nigeria are socialised to believe that showing emotional weakness is a sign of weakness.
In a recent interview with actor Efa Iwara, Beverly Naya was asked what she would loved to change about men, and she said:
“I wished men were more in touch with their emotions like women are. And vulnerable, women appreciate that so much.
“One thing I have noticed is that when a man is able to be vulnerable with a woman and can’t explain how and when it happened, he’s in love with that woman. It’s done [laughs].
“I wished that men would just be more vulnerable more often without feeling judged for it or embarrassed for being vulnerable.
“I feel like men, essentially Nigerian men are conditioned to believe that vulnerability is a sign of weakness. And I don’t agree with that.
“So, I would love that to change. I would love for men to embrace their vulnerable and sensitive sides a lot more.”
