Afrobeats musician and songwriter Michael Olayinka, better known by his stage name Ruger, has revealed why he ended his long-running feud with fellow artist BNXN, formerly known as Buju.

Ruger talked about how their three-year feud was stoked by fan comparisons in an interview with Beats FM 99.9, but in the end, they decided to concentrate on making quality music together.

While comparisons might be detrimental, he pointed out that they are also an essential component of the business, fostering rivalry and entertainment.

Ruger emphasised the value of giving high-quality music first priority, citing their joint EP “RnB” as an illustration of gifted musicians coming together to create amazing sound.

By moving past comparisons and distractions, Ruger and BNXN were able to put their differences aside and create something special for their fans.

In his words;

“Comparison is a killer of joy, but it’s necessary for the game. This is what is entertaining these people. The arguments and all that.

“We looked beyond that [the comparisons] and asked ‘How can we push good music together?’ Because there’s a lot of distractions now in the music space.

“Some people are releasing things that are not good, but they are using money to push it and it’s flying. If you look at the ‘RnB’ project, it’s very good music.”

In a different story, Ruger clapped back at a troll who mocked him on the photo and video sharing platform, Instagram

Taking to the singer’s comments section, the troll mocked him for not having a hit song since he left his former record label, Jonzing World.

Ruger in response stated that his former record label too has had no hits since he left.
