Nigerian Fuji sensation Wasiu Alabi, better known by his stage as Pasuma, has shared details about the turning point in his career that caused him to go from football to music.
The legendary musician, who recently turned 56, talked about how a disappointment in his football career led him to pursue a career in music.
In an interview, Pasuma stated that his first goal was to play professional football and that he hoped to represent Nigeria internationally.
His dreams were centered around securing a spot on the national team for the FIFA U-16 World Championship in China in 1985.
However, the Fuji star faced disappointment as he failed to make the cut for the prestigious tournament.
Recalling the moment of rejection, Pasuma said;
“I was a footballer, so I was invited for Kodak, but I decided to go into music because I wasn’t picked to go to Kodak for the World Cup then, so I now said I want to be a musician straight. I was a footballer before.”
Pasuma did not allow the disappointment of his football career’s setback to lower his spirits.
Rather, he directed his attention and enthusiasm onto music, eventually securing a position for himself in the field.
