It was a gathering of financial experts and other stakeholders on Saturday at The Citiheight Hotel in Lagos during the third business forum of the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB) held in collaboration with the Centre for Financial Journalism (CFJ).
The forum tagged ‘Fintech and Financial Services Delivery in the Digital Age’ was sponsored by the duo of Fidelity Bank and Stanbic IBTC Bank.
In his keynote address, the Executive Director, Systemspecs Ltd, Mr. Aderemi Atanda noted that technology is fast changing the face, pace and conduct of businesses across the world and Nigeria, particularly the banking sector is not left behind.
He noted that the advancement in instantaneous/do it yourself banking services today were some sort of mirage some few years back. He said if properly utilized, technology will further change and shape banking services for the better.
Renowned for leading the vibrant team that delivered in six months the very successful tech driven Integrated Payroll & Personnel Information System (IPPIS) of the Federal Government of Nigeria which has now become a model for other large public sector projects, Aderemi’s believe in the efficacy of technology to drive home professional and optimal financial service delivery dates back to over 20 years.
According to him: ‘Fintech is a combination of two words; Finance and Technology. The only way to deliver satisfactory financial services to customers across board is through the efficient use of technology. However, because of its regular evolving nature, technology is now more of a movement than an industry’.
The moderator of the forum, Mr. Femi Awoyemi, Managing Director/CEO, Proshare Nigeria Limited in his opening remarks also underscored the importance of technology in exceptional service delivery in this digital age. According to him, several sectors (of which the banking sector is key) thrives on the advancement of technology. He advised stakeholders on the need to key into the dynamism of technology for global competitiveness.
The CEO, Centre for Financial Journalism (CFJ), Mr. Ray Echebiri while giving his welcome address advised participants to take maximum benefit of the wealth of experience of the seasoned professionals invited for the forum.
He specially recognised untiring efforts of ACAMB executives for collaborating with CFJ to organise such an eye opening forum for efficiency and better service delivery to customers across board.
The vote of thanks was taken by the Financial Secretary of ACAMB, Lola Egboh who stood in for the President, Charles Aighe who was unavoidably absent at the forum.
