ALAT, the digital bank powered by Wema Bank, has been named the ‘Best Mobile Banking App’ and ‘Best Digital Bank for 2017’ by the organisers of the World Finance Digital Banking Awards.
The World Finance Digital Banking Awards celebrates bodies and institutions that are at the vanguard of innovation in digitization while meeting consumer demands and mitigating against accompanying risks.
Wema bank in a statement said the recognition by World Finance, a global print and online media platform which provides comprehensive commentary and analyses of the global economy, was the latest in a series of awards the digital bank had won.
Recall that Businessday, Nigeria’s leading business and finance weekly had in 2017, named ALAT as the Digital Banking Platform of the Year.
The bank also won the Excellence in Branchless Banking Award in the New Age Banking Awards and was nominated as the Best Innovative Digital solution in Nigeria by the World Summit Awards.
The conferment of the award by Global Finance, the statement disclosed, will hold on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Africa 2018.
Commenting on the awards, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Wema Bank, Segun Oloketuyi, was quoted as saying, “We are delighted to earn such a global recognition so early in the existence of ALAT.
