Osun commences distribution of 30,000 tablets to its final year students
‘Opon Imo’ is the yoruba translation of the English phrase ‘Tablet of Knowledge’ and this is the term used for the e-learning device introduced by Governor Aregbesola of Osun State in 2013 as a learning aid for final year secondary school students in the state.
Four sets of final year public secondary school students have thus far benefited from this learning aid.
This year’s distribution of ‘Opon Imo’ started in Government High school Osogbo where final year students who are preparing to write the SSCE, NECO and UTME examinations alongside their teachers were given the Tablets.
The practice over the years since the introduction of ‘Opon Imo’ has been to withdraw the Tablets from the students after finishing their final examinations.
The Tablets are taken for refurbishment and software upgrade and thereafter redistributed to a new set of final year students in the following year.
