2023: ‘A man who does not know the way cannot show the way,’ Tinubu dismisses Obasanjo’s endorsement of Peter Obi
...says Ex-President punished him and entire Lagos State as Governor
The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of punishing him while he was governor of Lagos State.
He went on to say that it was not a personal punishment, but rather an action taken against Lagos State because he was a member of the opposition party.
Tinubu mentioned the Enron power project and accused the Obasanjo administration of sabotaging his efforts to solve the challenges of electricity supply when he was governor of Lagos.
According to him, the Obasanjo administration diverted and embezzled a large sum of money intended to address the country’s electricity crisis.
He spoke during the APC presidential campaign rally in Benin, Edo State.
He said: “I brought Enron to solve electricity problem and help Lagos economy but Obasanjo and PDP frustrated it. They punished me and Lagos people and even began deducting our money. I created Local Governments in Lagos to accelerate development and create employment for our people but Obasanjo siezed our allocation and punished us for that. That was wickedness and such a man said he endorsed a man for you to vote as President. Can you follow such a man? Can Obasanjo recommend a leader for anyone in Nigeria? A man who does not know the way cannot show the way.”
“They punished me as Lagos State governor, not personal punish (sic) but the entire Lagos State was punished.”
“Obasanjo seized our salaries, local government monies. Do you call that person a good or a wicked man? So, if he says he endorsed somebody, is it not poison that he is giving to you? One who doesn’t know the way cannot show the way. He is endorsing Obi but he doesn’t know the road,” he said.
The former Lagos State Governor criticized the Edo state government for allegedly pulling down all his billboards in the state.
The APC standard bearer insisted that he would win the 2023 presidential elections even without his billboards in the state.
He promised to bring economic hub to Edo State, that could turn young people into internet fraud to experts in manufacturing and creation of chips.
Tinubu said “We can break shackles of poverty, shackles of ignorance, shackles of homelessness. We will do it together. We have the knowledge and the brain. Trust me, I am an expert in finding the way where there is no way. I found a way to tame the Atlantic ocean and turned it into a money-making machine. I found the way to stop the killing drainages to channelisation and prosperity. I have done many things. I have the power of thinking and doing.
“If you want prosperity, elect me. If you want skills to become rich, elect me. If you want security, elect me. If you say I should retire, you will retire with knowledge, diamond and gold,” he added.
In his remarks, Adams Oshiomhole, former National Chairman of APC, solicited votes from Edo residents, saying that the former Lagos State governor has good track records and was instrumental in the fight against a single-party system.
