EFCC arrests former speaker Etteh over alleged fraud
Patricia Etteh, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on suspicion of fraud involving a Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) contract.
Etteh was arrested for questioning by the anti-graft agency in Abuja on Tuesday.
Etteh was elected Speaker in 2007, but resigned after only a few months due to allegations of financial mismanagement.
She is the only woman in the country’s history to have been elected Speaker.
The EFCC also arrested the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris, on Monday in connection with a N80 billion fraud.
