El-Rufai accuses Kaduna Governor of sycophancy

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has criticised his successor, Governor Uba Sani, accusing him of supporting President Bola Tinubu for personal gain.

In a post on X, El-Rufai alleged that Sani’s unwavering loyalty to Tinubu was linked to over N150 billion in federal reimbursements received by Kaduna State over the past 18 months.

“Every day I see this governor embarrassingly and sycophantically rambling, I used to wonder why. However, confirming that federal reimbursements, interventions, and grants exceeding N150bn have been selectively given to Kaduna by Tinubu now explains everything,” El-Rufai wrote.

He added that the people of Kaduna would judge at the right time, implying that Sani’s support for Tinubu was politically motivated.

El-Rufai’s comments came after Sani, in a recent interview, expressed surprise at criticism of Tinubu’s administration by some founding members of the All Progressives Congress.

The former governor has become a vocal critic of Tinubu’s government, especially after failing to secure a ministerial position in 2023 when the Senate refused to confirm his nomination.
