Nollywood actress and director Funke Akindele has taken to social media to share her immense happiness as her most recent film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, breaks West African box office records.

The film has grossed over ₦1.6 billion at the box office, making it the highest-grossing movie in West Africa to date.

FilmOne Entertainment, the film distributor, made the announcement on their official Instagram account.

Reacting to the achievement, Funke Akindele took to her Instagram page to thank her fans and express her heartfelt appreciation.

In an emotional post, she credited her success to divine intervention and the unwavering love of her supporters.

“Na God do am o!!!!

I am so grateful to you all!!!!

I no know Wetin I go write again!!!” the actress wrote.

In a different story, Funke Akindele secured the position of the second highest-grossing Nollywood writer for 2024, alongside Collins Okoh and Akinlabi Ishola.

Their film, Everybody Loves Jennifer, earned a remarkable ₦1.125bn at the box office, according to a report shared by Filmone on its Instagram page, @filmoneng, on Friday.

The highest-grossing writer title went to Stephen Oluboyo, whose works Everybody Loves JenniferAlakada Bad and Boujee, and Aburo collectively grossed ₦1.38bn.

Anthony Joseph took third place with ₦780m for Queen LateefahThe Waiter, and Alakada Bad and Boujee.

Jack’ Enneth Opukeme secured the fourth spot with Farmer’s Bride and All’s Fair in Love, earning ₦299m.
