Italian club Juventus has appointed former Bologna manager Thiago Motta as their new head coach.
The 41-year-old, a former midfielder who played for Italy and Serie A rivals Inter Milan, has signed a three-year contract running until June 2027.
He replaces Massimiliano Allegri, who was dismissed two days after leading the team to victory in the Italian Cup.
Last season, Motta led Bologna to a fifth-place finish, securing their qualification for the Champions League.
“I am really happy to begin a new chapter at the helm of a great club like Juventus,” said Motta.
“I thank the owners and the management, who can be sure of my ambition to keep the Juventus flag flying high and to please the fans.”
Motta also played for Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Genoa, and Paris St-Germain, where he ended his playing career before transitioning into coaching with the club’s youth team.
He then joined the backroom staff at Genoa before becoming head coach at Spezia, followed by his tenure at Bologna.
