Lagos: Task Force clears illegal occupants in Amuwo-Odofin LG

A collaborative environmental task force has conducted an operation in Lagos State’s Amuwo-Odofin area to clear illegal use of the environment.

The task force’s visit was revealed by Valentine Buraimoh, the Chairman of the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area (LGA), on Friday.

“The joint task force, ably led by its chairman, Hon. Gbenga Nathaniel Akinbinu, is not relenting on ensuring that the mandate to recapture the glory days of the environs is upheld,” Buraimoh wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

In a separate incident, the LAWMA Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement Team, while on night duty, apprehended individuals unlawfully engaged in street vending with wheelbarrows along Macgregor Road and Awolowo Road in Ikoyi on Thursday.

Kunle Adeshina, a spokesperson for the Lagos State Government, also reported that the same team conducted operations on Omorinre Johnson Avenue and Prince Adelowo Adedeji Street in Lekki Peninsula on Wednesday night, to consistently uphold a policy of zero tolerance for unsanctioned street trading.

Furthermore, Adeshina mentioned that the operatives of the Monitoring, Enforcement, and Compliance Department of the Lagos Ministry of Environment and Water Resources (LasgMOE) were actively working on Thursday. These operatives were responsible for dismantling illegal structures constructed within the drainage setback on Oba Agbabiaka Street, located off Ago Palace Way in Okota.

 

In the meantime, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has emphasized his administration’s dedication to the healthcare sector.

He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to making high-quality healthcare services readily available and affordable to the state’s residents.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed these sentiments on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Lagos House, Marina, by Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare.se, Marina.
