The Nigerian musician Portable, whose actual name is Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, has responded to recent allegations that he assaulted government officials from Ogun State who were on official business at his club.

The controversial musician said that he didn’t hurt anyone or take part in any altercations.

This follows accusations on social media, particularly on X, that Portable and his group attacked Ogun State officials in his pub during a special operation.

According to reports, the singer’s bar was closed and nine of his colleagues were arrested following the event.

Portable earlier cried out that his bar and restaurant, as well as his new uncompleted building and hotel was sealed.

Ogun State government criticized the situation and claimed the singer attacked the officials and frowned at his “rascality”.

In the midst of the controversy, Portable shared a video denying the accusations. He insisted that he did not engage in any fight and is being wrongly blamed. He said in Yoruba:

“It’s a youth matter, I’m a small boy. I didn’t fight anybody. I might be troublesome, but this time, I was asleep when they came to my house and bar, asking everyone to leave.”

“They went to an academy where I help young people—not just musicians but also tailors, carpenters, and bricklayers.”

“Elders, owners of the earth, they have lied against us. My glory will defeat my enemies. That house is where I buried my mother when I was 13.”

“They came and destroyed my bar, took my properties, injured my apprentices, and beat my customers before sending them home.”

“My fans, I swear to God, I didn’t fight anyone. Let them show proof that I did.”
