Operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) have apprehended two main suspects believed to be involved in the murder of 16 travelers in Uromi, located in the Esan North-East local government area of Edo State, which occurred last week.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Friday Ituah, made this announcement in a statement on Tuesday.
He indicated that the suspects were captured in Uromi town based on reliable intelligence.
Ituah noted that law enforcement agencies are actively searching for additional key suspects linked to this tragic incident.
The suspects have been transferred to Abuja for further questioning and processing by the appropriate authorities.
On Monday, the state governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, visited Kano State to express condolences. He disclosed that 14 other suspects had already been arrested in connection with the killings and would also be moved to Abuja for further investigation.
During his visit to condole with the families of the victims and the state government, Governor Okpebholo pledged that justice would be served and that all those responsible for the killings would face the law.
He also assured the victims’ families that they will receive appropriate compensation.
