On October 16, 2024, Nollywood was shaken by the heartbreaking news of Olabiyi’s death after a brief illness, leaving fans and colleagues in shock.
NEWSCLICKNG previously reported that Olabiyi was set to join a movie set in Oyo last month. However, when the time arrived, the actor—known for his unwavering dedication—was unexpectedly absent.
It soon emerged that Olabiyi had been fighting a severe illness, which left him confined to a hospital bed, away from the film industry he cherished so much.
It was reported that Olabiyi had been admitted to the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo, where he was unable to speak or move for a prolonged and painful period as his health declined.
In a recent interview, a relative of Olabiyi described the devastating progression of his illness. According to the family member, Olabiyi initially developed a leg infection three months earlier, which seemed minor but quickly worsened.
The relative explained that despite being urged to seek treatment at the University College Hospital, where he spent nearly two months under intensive care, the actor’s condition continued to deteriorate.
The family member mentioned that doctors prescribed regular follow-up treatments, but the actor, renowned for his resilience, found it difficult to keep up with the frequent hospital visits because of the long distance.
