Why I keep my marriage private – Ruth Kadiri

Ruth Kadiri, Nollywood actress and producer, has shared why she chooses to keep her marriage private.

In a recent appearance on Dear Ife, Kadiri explained that she and her husband mutually agreed to maintain a low profile when it comes to their relationship.

As a result, the couple opted for a small, intimate wedding attended by just 50 guests.

The 37-year-old Edo-born filmmaker described the decision as one of the best she has ever made, noting that it has helped her stay grounded and shielded her relationship from public scrutiny and external interference.

She added that keeping their union out of the spotlight has also allowed her husband to live freely, without the pressures that come with public attention.

“I invited only 50 people to my wedding. It was exactly what we both wanted, and I didn’t want any drama around my relationship,” she said.

“I think that’s the best decision I’ve ever made because it has helped me stay grounded and define my relationship. I also don’t have external factors influencing how I relate with my spouse.

“People don’t know him, so there’s no pressure on him. He is just living his life and he doesn’t really like attention anyway.”

Kadiri clarified that she isn’t deliberately hiding her husband, noting that they attend church and public events together but since he isn’t a celebrity, many people don’t recognise him.

“For clarity, my husband is not a secret. People who know me, knows him and that’s enough,” she added.

“I’m not hiding him, we go to church and events together, people post his pictures but just because you don’t know him that’s why you can tell. My life is not as private as people think.”
