President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reinstatement of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Salihu Abdullahi Dembos, and the Executive Director of News, Ayo Adewuyi.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the directive in a statement on Tuesday titled ‘President Tinubu recalls DG of NTA, ED News; sets aside fresh appointments’.
Dembos, appointed in October 2023, had briefly vacated office after fresh management changes were announced. Tinubu has now instructed him to return and complete his three-year tenure. Adewuyi has also been recalled to serve out his tenure, due to end in 2027.
The move reverses recent appointments to key management roles, including those of director-general, executive director of marketing, and managing director of NTA Enterprises.
Tinubu’s decision underscores his preference for continuity in managing the state-owned broadcaster.
