Governor of Osun state, Ademola Adeleke, has urged security agencies to remain neutral and professional as a political atmosphere encircles the state.

In a statement on Thursday through Olawale Rasheed, his spokesperson, Adeleke noted that Osun being the home state of President Bola Tinubu, should not be turned into a political battleground.

The governor made the appeal during the decoration ceremony of Ahmed Abdulraman, his aide-de-camp (ADC) and deputy superintendent of police (DSP), at the government house in Osogbo.

The event was attended by Ibrahim Gotan, commissioner of police; Igbalawole Sotiyo, commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); Leye Adegboyega, sector commander, FRSC; and other service chiefs.

He commended the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for embracing professionalism and praised the inspector general of police (IGP) and the Osun command for their discipline and adherence to due process.

He particularly lauded Gotan for promoting peace and order across the state through his leadership style.

Appreciating the synergy among security agencies, Adeleke urged them to maintain neutrality in political activities, insisting that law enforcement must not be compromised by partisanship.

“We should continue to maintain a level playing field. This is the home state of Mr. President. Mr. President belongs to all of us. Osun should not be turned into a battleground,” he said.

Adeleke expressed joy over the promotion of his ADC, describing Abdulraman as an “exemplary officer” whose loyalty and discipline embody the values of the police.

“I am happy today over the promotion of my ADC. He is a good representative of the police,” the governor said.

He also highlighted the sacrifices of security operatives nationwide, describing the NPF as a “blessed organisation” deserving appreciation from both the government and the people.

Gotan congratulated Abdulraman and commended his service record, reminding him that promotions come with added responsibilities.

He urged the officer to remain committed to discipline, professionalism, and the highest ideals of policing.

The police commissioner said the Osun command will continue to uphold fairness, human rights, and respect for the rule of law.

He assured the governor of the command’s readiness to sustain peace and order in the state, noting that government support has been instrumental to their operations.

Gotan concluded by encouraging officers to emulate Abdulraman’s hard work and dedication, describing him as a role model within the force.
