The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has shut down EMCEL Court Phase I and Well Stock Apartments, both situated on Lantana Avenue in Ikota GRA, Eti-Osa, for illegally releasing wastewater into public drainage systems and the surrounding environment.
The closures were based on evidence that the estates’ operations were causing environmental pollution, creating a public nuisance, and endangering public health.
Sharing the development on his X handle, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, stated that the estates’ actions represented intentional breaches of environmental laws.
The intervention is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to curb indiscriminate wastewater disposal and enforce compliance with environmental laws.
Residents have been urged to adopt proper wastewater management and hygiene practices to protect public health and promote environmental sustainability.
