‘More Nigerians should embark on similar feats,’ FG reacts to Hilda Baci’s ‘world’s largest pot of jollof’ attempt
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has praised Hilda Baci, the celebrity chef, for her ongoing effort to set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) by cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Baci, who previously held the title for the longest cooking marathon, is undertaking the new challenge with a custom-built pot measuring six metres wide.
The minister, represented by Olalekan Fadolapo, director-general of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, where Baci began her ambitious cooking challenge, described the attempt as a testament to Nigeria’s global excellence.
He said the federal government applauds Baci’s extraordinary effort in showcasing Nigeria on the global stage.
“Her dedication to excellence and unrelenting pursuit of greatness exemplify the Nigerian spirit that the world has come to appreciate,” he said.
He urged the thousands of youths present to learn from Baci’s journey, emphasising the importance of hard work, perseverance, and commitment.
“Young Nigerians must understand that success comes through legitimate hard work and proper planning,” the minister said.
“Hilda Baci has shown that with determination, any Nigerian can achieve global recognition and bring honour to our nation.”
The minister also pledged the federal government’s support for Baci’s record attempt and other initiatives that promote Nigeria positively internationally.
He commended Baci’s professionalism and attention to hygiene, noting that her meticulous preparation reflects the quality and integrity defining Nigerian excellence.
“We celebrate Nigerians like Hilda Baci who serve as ambassadors of our nation’s talents, culture, and food,” he said.
“From her previous 93-hour cooking marathon to this current challenge, Hilda has consistently demonstrated that Nigerians can compete and excel at the highest global standards.
“We encourage more young Nigerians to channel their talents into ventures that benefit both themselves and national development.”
