Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday held a meeting in Abuja with David Mark, national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and other bigwigs of the party.
The meeting came just hours after the ADC convened its first national caucus meeting in the federal capital.
Although details of Jonathan’s discussion with ADC leaders were not disclosed, the visit has fueled ongoing speculation about his possible return to the presidential race in 2027.
Jonathan, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2010 to 2015, has yet to publicly confirm his political plans.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is also reportedly making overtures to Jonathan ahead of the 2027 elections. Some PDP stalwarts, including Bauchi governor Bala Mohammed and Senator Abba Moro of Benue South, have openly stated that the opposition party is wooing Jonathan to seek its presidential ticket.
Jonathan remains eligible for another four-year term, having only served one full term after completing the tenure of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who died in office on May 5, 2010.
