Army storms Terrorists’ hideout in Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have carried out a successful raid on a terrorists’ hideout in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, seizing arms and ammunition.

The mission, part of the ongoing Operation Lafiya Nakowa, aims to eliminate terrorists, bandits, and other criminal groups threatening peace in the state.

On 14 October 2025, troops stationed at Tapga Ngasawa village in Dampar District received intelligence about terrorist camps located around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages. Acting on the tip-off, they swiftly launched a clearance operation in the identified areas.

During the engagement at Badekoshi, the troops exchanged fire with the terrorists, who later fled towards Fajul village. The soldiers chased them with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat deeper into the forest.

Recovered items from the scene included:

  • One AK-47 rifle

  • One AK-47 magazine

  • One round of 7.62mm special ammunition

  • Five rounds of blank ammunition

  • Two fragmental jackets

  • Two military camouflage uniforms

  • One Jincheng motorcycle, believed to have been stolen during a previous attack in Tapga village

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade NA/Sector 3 OPWS, applauded the troops for their bravery and professionalism, urging them to sustain their momentum until all criminal groups are neutralised in Taraba State.

He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and pledged ongoing collaboration with other security agencies and local communities to maintain peace and security across the state.
