President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The swearing-in ceremony took place at 1:50 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

During the ceremony, Tinubu urged Amupitan to uphold the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system and to work towards strengthening INEC’s institutional capacity.
Amupitan’s swearing in by the President comes a week after the Senate confirmed his appointment as INEC Chairman following a rigorous screening session on October 16.
