Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has made it clear that he is not aligned with the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) decision to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from the party.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Fintiri — who also chairs the PDP 2025 Elective National Convention — said the move does not serve the party’s best interests.

He stressed that he would not support any action capable of deepening the PDP’s internal crisis.

“As a faithful party member, my position is clear: I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP, and I will not support anything that could lead to its disintegration.
I believe that peace and reconciliation are the only ways forward for our great party,” the governor stated.

Fintiri encouraged party stakeholders to focus on healing existing divisions and working towards unity, adding that he remains committed to initiatives that promote peace, stability, and progress within the PDP.

He reiterated that his stance is driven by the need for reconciliation and that he will continue to push for solutions that strengthen the party.

‘Anti-Party Activities’

Wike and former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose were expelled from the PDP on Saturday over allegations of anti-party activities. The party also removed its National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, along with eight others.

The decision was taken during the party’s national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

A motion for the expulsion of 11 key members was moved by PDP chieftain Bode George, who cited actions contrary to the party’s collective interest. The motion was seconded by the Bauchi State PDP chairman and unanimously adopted by members present.

The convention was attended by several top party figures, including Governors Seyi Makinde, Ahmadu Fintiri, Bala Mohammed, Dauda Lawal, Caleb Mutfwang, and PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum, among others.
