President Bola Tinubu has submitted 65 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the request on Thursday. The list includes 34 career ambassadors and high commissioners, and 31 non-career nominees.

Among the career nominees are Sulu-Gambari Olatunde Ahmed (Kwara State) and Segun Ige (Edo State). Notable non-career nominees include Senators Folasade Grace Bent (Adamawa), Solomon Ita Enang (Akwa Ibom), Jimoh Ibrahim (Ondo), former Imo State First Lady Chioma Ohakim, and former Interior Minister and Army Chief Abdulrahman Dambazau. These names were not part of the earlier batch of nominees released by the presidency.

Previously, three nominees—Kayode Are (Ogun), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa), and Ayodele Oke (Oyo)—had been sent to the Senate and screened by the Foreign Affairs Committee. The new 65 nominees have now been forwarded to the same committee for screening within a week.
