A deadly crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has resulted in three deaths and left several others injured.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the accident involved three vehicles and occurred near the Secretariat, in the direction of the Otedola Bridge.
In a post on its X handle, LASTMA stated, “Three vehicles were involved in the collision, resulting in three fatalities and several serious injuries.”
The agency added that emergency responders were already attending to victims. “LASAMBUS personnel are on the scene, providing medical attention to the injured victims,” it said, noting that both LASTMA and Nigerian Police Force officers were on-site to manage traffic and maintain order.
Efforts are currently being made to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow, with motorists advised to drive carefully around the affected area.
The crash occurred when a car headed towards Berger on the Otedola Bridge collided with a truck near the Secretariat. LASTMA reported that “according to preliminary observation, the collision occurred when the Audi with the plate number (YAB742CN) ran into the slowly moving truck.”
“The impact resulted in significant damage to the car. The impact was severe enough to cause extensive deformation to the car. Due to the magnitude of the damage. The car is classified as a total write-off. While the truck driver took off.”
