The Ogun State Government has placed a suspension on three environmental consultancy firms over allegations of professional negligence and responsibility in the reported acid battery contamination linked to defunct Used Lead Acid Battery (ULAB) recycling firms in the Ogijo area of the state.

The Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, disclosed this during a review session of the Process Audit on the shut-down companies, held at the Ministry of Environment’s Conference Room in the State Secretariat, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

The affected consultancy firms are Vyne Nurt Limited, Core Environmental Services Limited, and Saag Chemicals Nigeria Limited.

Oresanya explained that the firms, which were engaged by the ULAB companies, were indicted during the audit after findings revealed that certain required pollution control facilities were never installed. He added that the consultants also failed to accurately report the true conditions of the companies to the state government, a lapse that amounted to professional misconduct.
