Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has opened up on the motivation behind his goal celebration during Nigeria’s clash with Tunisia.

Ndidi netted the team’s second goal in the thrilling 3-2 win at the Complexe Sportif de Fès.

It marked the midfielder’s first-ever international goal for the Super Eagles.

The Besiktas player explained that the celebration was inspired by childhood memories involving his father and former Super Eagles skipper Nwankwo Kanu.

“I just remember my dad, my dad always talked about Kanu Nwankwo and all. I kind of like saw the video and then I said, ‘Oh, I’ll do that one,” Ndidi told reporters.

The 29-year-old also spoke about how meaningful the goal was to him.

“It was really special after a decade, it’s really amazing. And we got the win, which is wonderful,” he added.
