Chelsea drop points again after draw with Bournemouth

Chelsea and Bournemouth played out a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge in a frenetic contest that saw all four goals scored inside the opening 30 minutes. The result leaves Enzo Maresca’s side with just one Premier League win in their last seven matches, while Bournemouth’s winless run in the league has now stretched into double figures.

Despite arriving with only three away points since August, Bournemouth struck early, taking the lead in the sixth minute. A long throw was flicked on to David Brooks, whose initial header was only partially saved by Robert Sanchez, allowing the Welsh winger to convert the rebound.

Chelsea responded in the 15th minute when Estevao was brought down in the box by Antoine Semenyo. After a VAR review, a penalty was awarded, and Cole Palmer calmly slotted it home despite Djordje Petrovic diving the right way.

The game continued at a frantic pace, with Sanchez denying Brooks a second goal before Chelsea edged ahead midway through the half. Enzo Fernandez combined neatly with Alejandro Garnacho, danced past several challenges, and fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

That advantage was short-lived, however, as Bournemouth struck back just minutes later. Sustained pressure in the Chelsea area led to Trevor Chalobah inadvertently setting up Justin Kluivert, who tapped in to make it 2-2 and complete a remarkable first 27 minutes.

Both sides had chances to add to the score before the break, with Liam Delap, Alex Jimenez and Semenyo going close, but no further goals followed.

The second half started at a much slower tempo, with the first meaningful effort arriving in the 64th minute when Petrovic tipped an Estevao shot around the post. The young Brazilian continued to threaten, later cutting the ball back for Delap, whose attempt was deflected wide.

Chelsea pushed for a winner, but Fernandez failed to capitalise on a loose ball in the box late on. Bournemouth ultimately held firm to secure a point, marking their seventh straight away game without conceding three goals, while Chelsea have now dropped 13 points from winning positions this season.
